Why do teens have to have such an intense social life?

I'm a teen, and my friend made a comment that really bugged me. She said: "You have almost no social life". I was like, so what, I'm always so busy with sports and academics and everything else, and besides, building a network of friends isn't on my top priority list. But then she said, "Well you're going to have to build social skills sometimes... I mean... when you get to university you're not going to know what to do". Come on... what's with our society's obsession with as many shallow friends at one time. What's wrong with just having a couple friends and concentrating on other stuff?

Why do teens have to have such an intense social life?bad girls club

I can assure you social skills ARE important. Just as important as academics and sports to be quite honest. If you cannot present yourself well socially in both casual and professional situations, this can hurt you in your career and personal life.

Listen to your friend. You don't have to have a slew of vapid idiots for friends but shut out the world completely and avoid having a social life. It builds character, professionalism, self-esteem, and respect for yourself and others.

Why do teens have to have such an intense social life?school myspace myspace.com

like it or not, in this country, we need to build a network of "friends." academics and sports will get you far, but having that network will help you go farther! having a social life let's you be comfortable in your own skin when you're not in your element/familiar surroundings. learn how to socialize now and you'll have an easier time connecting with other people later on in life, not necessarily on a personal level, but a professional or amicable level. always remember that unless you are planning on playing sports professionally or attending school all your life, academics and sports will end at some point in your life. making or meeting people?? you will do ALL your life. it's good you're only keeping a few but true friends (thats the same as me) but learn how to meet and be sociable and approachable at the same time. good luck!

Any networking advice on how to get an internship?

It's not that I am nervous to converse with professionals at social/business functions. But I am not getting any offers or referrals from these business professionals. Should I be bold enough to ask them directly if they can offer me an internship this summer? Seems that my network is not working for me... Suggestions?

How important is a network of social support after an individual gets out of an alcohol rehab?

I was just wondering if it would make a significant difference to the patient if he had friends after going to rehab. Will this affect his continuance of alcohol sobriety?

How important is a network of social support after an individual gets out of an alcohol rehab?myspace top

Yes. An individual needs friends who are sober, those that will help him steer clear of alcohol. It's always difficult to stay sober when one is constantly faced with temptations. A network of social support will help the patient from falling into relapse. The patient would need people who knows what he's been through and would help him keep up what he has accomplished while undergoing alcohol rehab.

How important is a network of social support after an individual gets out of an alcohol rehab?official myspace myspace.com

A supportive social group would be beneficial. It would aid the person in how to be in a social setting with no alcohol present. The best resource would be a sponsor of some sort that the patient could contact whenever a moment of weakness came upon them.

Hope this helps!
i dont think a network of alcaholic buddies is wise, friends .. yes,, if he surrounds himself with good friends who dont abuse alcahol or drugs he might have a better chance,
i'll tell you from personal experience - the MOST important thing is to AVOID the network of 'friends' that are NOT supporting the sobriety of the individual that got out of rehab..... some 'friends' can try to start one back again...

Do I need a patent if I wanted to create a innovative idea with a site similar to social network?

I was wondering if I had to get a patent on my idea? I wanted to make a site like myspace, friendster, facebook, etc... but wanted to know how to go about it before creating the website. My idea is different, but wanted to know if I needed a patent on it.

Do I need a patent if I wanted to create a innovative idea with a site similar to social network?emo myspace

Charles:

That is a good question, but the answer is not easy. I will give you some thoughts.

If you think you have a potentially patentable invention I recommend you seek the advice of a patent agent or patent attorney and discuss your idea with them. You can find a list of all registered agents and attorneys at:

http://des.uspto.gov/OEDCI/

You never HAVE to get a patent on anything. However, if you want to exclude someone else from using your invention, you do need to consider whether your invention has patentable features.

If you have a potentially patentable invention and neglect to file and obtain a patent on the idea, you have dedicated your invention to the public and anyone can use it. However, if you were the first to invent (under current U.S. law) then no one should be able to apply for a patent on your idea.

Another problem you may have is other patents that already exist. There are thousands of software patents claiming various features. I am not familiar with software patents and I am not familiar with your invention - which you should not reveal to anyone (except a patent agent or attorney) until you have filed for patent protection and which you most assuredly should not disclose on this web site - so I am clueless as to whether your site would potentially infringe existing patents.

Regardless of what you decided to do, I recommend you do it quickly. New patent applications are filed every day and sometimes the difference between two filings for similar or the same invention can be days.

You should be aware that obtaining a patent can be expensive and there are no guarantees that an application will necessarily end up being a patent.

Good luck to you!

Kids, I know you're not going to like this answer, but the fact is MySpace and sites like friendster appeal to minors, especially young teens for one reason. The greatest desire of teens is to belong. It doesn't matter what you belong to as long as you know others respect you. The term "friends" on MySpace can mean anything from someone you actually know to a band trying to pimp their music out for free. But that is exactly what kids want, the kids with the most friends is the coolest.

Rupert Murdoch knew this when he purchased MySpace last year from Tom for a whooping 588 Million dollars. At that time MySpace was the number 5 most visited site, now it is #1 in the world. For those that don;t know Rupert Murdoch, he is the chairman of News Corp and makes money every single time you visit a MySpace page. With over 80 Million users oblivious to the actually point of MySpace, ie. Ad revenue, Murdoch is laughing his way to the bank. Good luck in your search for answers.

nothing
I'm on one of those sites and it's to stay in touch with cousins and friends I don't see often or people that don't live near me. I usually don't accept anyone as a friend that I don't actually know. It seems to me a lot of people on those sites want to be your friend just so they have a large number of friends. I seriously wonder why these people ask to be my friend when I look at their page and there are no similar interests, etc.
I'm not really sure why people need those sites either. But i think, for the same reason people chat and blog. For me, i still opt for emails, you know, for friends' photos and news. To get new friends? Well, i'll get new friends when i decide to have one, otherwise, i love to remain the way i am.
I really don't think that it is a problem. I think that we Americans have lost a sense of community. We also don't go to houses of worship as much as we did in the past. Often families move around a lot, even to different states, away from extended family. This leaves us with a decided social void in our lives. The Internet is perfect for filling that void because these sites are actual communities. People get to know the other people who hang out there. Overall, I think that it's a good thing.
For me, it means being able to keep in touch with friends that have moved abroad to live, work or get married.
finding friends there
As a parent, I think it's frightening that so many young people choose to try to find "friends" there. It's even more frightening the types of predators that may be lurking behind a friendly avatar. My son doesn't visit those sites (yet!) and I dread having to regulate him when/if he does. I think those sites appeal to teenagers because teens are always looking for affirmation, other people they can talk to that won't judge them, or that they will fit in with. Teenagers are always looking for someone who "understands" them. And that is very easy to fake in a chat room. Scary. I would much rather have my kid make friends IN PERSON. Friends whose parents I know, and whose home I have been to, etc.... I want to know all their friends personally!
There are two answers to this question:

The first is you are looking at people trying to reconnect with others to fulfill their own ego. The computer age brought about a new isolation, even though it connects us globally. People have become desensitized to others around them, and there is little chance of it slowing down. So these websites offer people the chance to reconnect to someone, anyone in a desperate attempt to prosper friendships lost. It also feeds their ego by showing how many friends they have, or what they have been doing with snap shots, it is proving their self worth.

The second answer is for many this is escapism. Time spent away from their normal boring lives and escape into a world they create. A world where they can be anyone they want, and impress others with it. They can be the world traveler, or the starving artist and instantly they find a community of like minded individuals who help perpetrate the fantasy and keep their dreams alive.

For recognition, you have to come out with your visible achievements and advertise in the prominent dailies...Also you may open up a web site with all your policies, proposals, on going projects and achievements.

It will of course will give a lead in a short time and the interested people who are supporting %26amp; getting supported will be in touch with you. So the services can be undertaken with great care due to volunteers and donors (sponsors)...

Practical examples of social engineering?

Generally speaking, the weakest link in setting up security in a computer environment is people. That鈥檚 because people can often be tricked into giving out private information. Even with all the news and hype about identify theft and criminal Web sites, it鈥檚 amazing how well these techniques still work. Many users naively download a funny screen saver, open an e-mail attachment, or enter credit card information into a Web site, without regard to security. In the computer arena, social engineering is the practice of tricking people into giving out private information or allowing unsafe programs into the network or computer.

There is a very good book by one of the masters of social engineering, Kevin Mitnick. The book is titled "The Art of Deception". It is written from a "white hat" perspective, to help people recognize the weaknesses in their procedures that allow social engineering to succeed.

Not every social work job will require a drivers license. I would look for a job in a residential center that will not require you to drive. Your best bets are working with the elderly in a nursing home or assisted living facility. You can also look at group homes for youth. Finally you might look at a clean and sober living house with your experience in recovery you would be a good candidate. Finally, I would look at assisted living programs for chronically mentally ill and developmentally disabled. Your goal should then be to pay off the tickets and get your license back.

There is a nice little Hungarian Restaurant (serving excellent goulash) called Budapest on Main St..

perhaps too small for your needs - but down the hill in Strathcona / Chinatown is the Ukranian Cultural Centre Hall (Pender and Hawks) - they just renovated it and have a kitchen and stage there - they rent it out for all sorts of events and hold regular Ukranian Cultural Events there - also a couple of blocks south east of there, on Campbell Ave. is the Russian Peoples Home / hall ... it's a little run down but is next door to Vancouver's first Russian Orthodox Church (mebbe 100 y.o. which is old by Vancouver standards!)

There is also a Russian Hall on West 4th, (near Arbutus) and of course - the Croatian Cultural Centre on Victoria Drive south of Broadway - - - both rent their facilities.

I'm also uncomfortable in the one-on-one, "cocktail-party" type of setting. Three tricks I've used are (1) Ask questions. People love to talk about themselves or their jobs, and once ou get them started, you just need to smile politely and listen; (2) Read the front page of the newspaper and the front page of the sports section - great conversation starters and even if you don't know that the Detroit Tigers play baseball, you can parrot the headline you read about how their star pitcher's out with a shoulder injury. Finally (3) work out an "elevator pitch" - a 60 seconds or less articulate summary of what you do that you can rattle off when the opportunity presents itself.

Most of my colleagues are listed on the site LinkedIn. (http://www.linkedin.com) Here is some info on LinkedIn from Wikipedia:

"LinkedIn is a business-oriented networking site founded in December 2002 and launched in May 2003 [1] (comparable to a social networking site), mainly used for professional networking. As of November 2007, it had more than 16 million registered users, spanning 150 industries and more than 400 economic regions (as classified by the service)."

What are the negative ways that chat rooms affect our social life?

What are the negative ways that chat rooms affect our social life?sexy myspace

I think people find it very easy to be negative online in ways that they would not in real life. Something about being online and relatively anonymous gives people the courage to be really vicious with other people in a way that they might not be in face-to-face interaction.

There's also the fantasy aspect, because people build all these social networks built on projection. You can think your friends are really great, because you don't have to deal with as many of their negative aspects in a way that you would if you had to spend a lot of face time with them. Spending face-to-face time with people requires using a lot of psychological and emotional skills not required online, such as reading facial and vocal cues, body language, etc. These are things you use later in life when dealing with people in the job market, dating, etc.

Edit: Following up on the projection concept, people who are creating fantasy images of their online social networks may also begin to find that their own self image is no longer "good enough." There is a known correlation between time spent online and depression. Now, correlation means that we don't know a causal factor, but certainly if you're spending a lot of time online in chat with a fantasy social life, and neglecting a real social life, and now the real you is no longer good enough, depression is going to likely follow (in this instance). I think it can't be good for one's self image, at the very least.

These are some of the possible negative effects of chat rooms that I've noticed and have spent some time thinking about lately. Interesting topic! Good luck on this. It's actually something I would suggest you look at in social science journals. It's definitely something I've considered going back to look at for further research myself. The grant money's definitely there.

Chatting with people instead actually going and meeting them. Hell, going out at all. Are there any gay social clubs for singles in Atlanta, Ga?

I am seeking individuals who would be interested in manning up a social organization for single gay men %26amp; women. This singles group will cater to the gay men and women in the Atlanta metro area. Not a dating service, but a structured membership organization complete with a board of directors. It will be a great way to meet new friends, network and will include group social events such as BBQ鈥檚, ski trips, pool parties, boating at the lake, weekend getaways and much much more.

Drop me a line if you would be interested in being part of the start up crew for a social club like this.

Are there any gay social clubs for singles in Atlanta, Ga?custom myspace

This sounds like a great idea - but if you elect a board of directors for a single club- what would happen if they suddenly got coupled? There had been a singles dinner club that met once a month, it was fun - but the turn over in the group was fast and lots. The womens community has a butch-femme group here in Atlanta that met up with another website - we are coupled, singled, and even some poly groups are involved. We do group birthday dinners, get a cabin in the woods, have house parties, and attend festivals in the summer. It has been a great networking opportunity.

Good luck with you plans!

What do you think of unreal characters (ex. products, brands, groups) in your social networks?

You get invites in your friendster/myspace (or the like) from groups ranging from anything from maybe your hometown, country, school, brands, clubs, etc....asking to be your friend. You know your not going to get personal messages. Is this cool or not? What would make you join and actively communicate with it?

What do you think of unreal characters (ex. products, brands, groups) in your social networks?best myspace

I don't have a problem with it. I don't add "friends" unless it means something to me, like a certain band for example. I wouldn't add one unless I like their music.

What do you think of unreal characters (ex. products, brands, groups) in your social networks?hot myspace myspace.com

Most of the time when people receive friend requests from bands, it's often to just booster the band's friend numbers. Typically the people never even talk. I've gotten to the point where i just accept the people that send me friend request and if they want to talk to me, then they'll send me a message. It's not cool, because it makes people just seem like a number. I would join and be a part of a brand, product, or group if i could relate to them and i like their product. Otherwise they're just a friend number. I hope i answered what you asked.

Is tagging in a social network really useful?

There are many sites that let you search web pages based on the tags people give to them. But everyone may tag the same thing very differently, the tags may only be meaningful to the person who come up with them and may have nothing to do with the meaning of the contents. I believe that searching based on tags by other people is mostly meaningless. Agree?

Is tagging in a social network really useful?good myspace

The idea is that you might put a tag on a document that totally doesn't contain the word you associate with the link. For instance, a page about building Muppets might contain a pic of David Bowie because of that Labyrinth movie. The page might not contain any reference to him, and the picture might not be named after him, but when I "tag" that page with his name, you'll be able to find that rare pic of him.

I would guess that any one person's tags are pretty well meaningless, but when you aggregate them all together, meaning emerges.

I live in the Bridgend area but am also not too far away from Neath/Port Talbot. I like to go to Swansea occasionally, but only go on my own. i Have a 2 year old son whom I absolutely adore. I am currently going through a divorce. I only came out middle of last year but have known I was gay for 16 years. Now I would like to meet someone I can really get to know and feel comfortable with and be myself. I want to find someone who makes me happy and I want to do the same for her.

Good for you Kath, get out there and do it girl! I'm from the UK (you get various countries on here) and thought you were talking about an area called Bridgend where I live but realised no, otherwise I would have met you for a few beers and helped you find a guy, I'm a good matchmaker! Anyway, I just wanted to say I admire you for not sitting around feeling sorry for yourself and for doing something so pro-active, well done. Be careful though there are some dodgy folk on-line so saying you have a young son may not be the best idea although I can see why you want guys to know this. Anyway, serious stuff aside, I wish you lots of luck and hope you find a keeper soon.
Hi there Kath

I think you are so brave coming out. You only get a chance to live your life once so you go girl and enjoy it. You sound like a great mum and being a single mum is not easy. I was a single mum for a while. My best friend is male and gay and I adore him. Sexuality doesn't mean alot to me, its the person inside that counts.

Lisa x
Well, www.facebook.com is a pretty good social network, and is highly focused around allowing you to meet people in your area, and to stay in touch with people that you went to school with. It's a world-wide social network, so there should be plenty of people in your area that use it.

Also, Yuwie is an up-and-coming social network. There are tons of people using it around the world, plus it will pay you a percentage of the money that the advertisements make on your profile page! So, the more friends that you make the better!

Dating websites can be great, but I would get out there and simply chat with people for a while. It will allow you to become more comfortable with speaking with strangers, and talking about yourself. Since you've gone through some serious changes here recently, you definitely want to be able to talk about yourself and what you've gone through whenever you meet new people, and to do so with confidence and without any negative emotions that may still be lingering.

Remove the spaces in the resource link when you place it in your browser, to check out how Yuwie works.

Hi DP,

Well what's best is really down to what interests you and what you want from your online experience. There's so many out there with more appearing each day.

I think the future of social networking is to get away from the big sites like facebook and move towards smaller, targeted niche social networks that cater to particular interests, locations and careers.

Communities like this will add a new dimension to social networking as people will log on for genuine and specific support, connections and friendship.

What's best is where you feel you belong I guess.

Use a search engine such as findasocialnetwork.com to find a network that shares your interests and desires. It's a site for helping you find like-minded communities and these communities promoting themselves. Check it out and be safe!

I have heard of it and been there several times. It's a start-up and when I've been there, there's not been much going on yet. Perhaps I should revisit as I've not been there in a while. Anyone I know there? It seems that there was the last time I visited.

It looked like it was going to be enjoyable! Go! See!

Thanks for the link, Wazoo. See you there!
Like Plum, Mr. Ed, and Harley Lady, I've never heard of it.
Hey Wazoo-

Nice to meet you!

I'm a member at Seniorocity--I joined a few weeks ago. I'll try to find you over there.

I also wonder if there are other Seniorocity folks here...

[BTW, the people at Seniorocity have been great. And, I've noticed a couple of new people from Yahoo Answers. Hope to see more of you there.]
Like Plum, Mr. Ed, and Harley Lady %26amp; Gladys! Never heard of it! ?
I will check that out, hope they are more mature than some folks I have met on here.
Wow, that looks cool!!! Thanks!
I haven't heard of it either. I will check it out. Thanks for the information.
Like everybody said, never heard of it. Looks interesting. I'll check it out. Thank you so much for the information.
I hadn't heard of it until now. Thanks, it looks like it might be interesting.
Most of us are still residing at the poor house.
Unfortunately when I visited that site, it appeared to be open to all [i.e., no invitation required] which opens it up to trolls and bothersome folk to invade....it is a site open to ANY one above the age of 40.

Seemed nice enough but not my proverbial cup of tea...anyhow I already belong to another site where many from here are members and it is not a Yahoo group and tons of fun!
Is it related to travelocity? Never heard of it.
Cool, I've grown tired of city Council meetings.
I haven't heard of it, but thanks. I will check it out. It sounds fun.
I have joined it but i have not been able to navigate it as well as I would like. I have met a really nice person there though.
Hmmm. I looked at the question and wondered, Arent all three that you mentioned adults ? No i havent heard of it.
nope, diddn't know anything about it.

Is it dangerous for military members to have profiles on social networks?

What can happen? What are some safe sites?

Is it dangerous for military members to have profiles on social networks?myspace.com quizzes

Just don't celebrate the fact that you're in the military.... And don't answer detailed questions.

Is it dangerous for military members to have profiles on social networks?www myspaces myspace.com

It depends on what information they put out there. There are OPSEC and PERSEC rules in place for a reason. As long as these are not violated, no, it isn't dangerous. Many soldiers choose to stick to secured military networks.
the only time it is dangerous is when you put too much information on there.. i mean its fine to show your military pride and say youre in the military but dont go saying " im in the marines and right now we are in balad iraq and next week we are going on a raid of al-sadrs camp" you know the ol op-sec stuff. its just as dangerous to have a profile as it is to walk around in your uniform
Dont put anything on your profile that you would'nt tell someone that you just met on the street. It is ok to say you are in the Military but dont include your unit or the stength of your unit, any technical details about military equipment you work with and definetly never write anything about current or upcoming deployments.
don't put on your profile that you are gay.

you can get them to watch IT shows to get them know more about the blogs, videos, or through the newspaper to tell them about the blogs, or show them the internet blogs.
Most of the people visit himself here and they know what is going on here. But many people reach through other websites like http://www.medianowonline.com which is in Google index and yahoo too. People read something there then they come on these sites.
Actually, if they joined a social networking site like Seniorocity, which is designed for the over 40 crowd and seniors, it might help them.

There's plenty of older folks who are up to date on technology there.

If a friend only calls 1x/month to hang out, she's only interested in a social network?

We hang out 1x/month and then that's it. No phone calls, no emails. I try emailing her regularly and letting her know what's going on but she doesn't do the same. She's not really looking for a close friendship, right?

That is a difficult one, as we live in such a booze orientated culture! Have you considered joining some sort of sports club, or local film or book club, to find people in your local neighbourhood with an interest that extends beyond drinking? They definitely are out there!

I dont drink and sometimes this makes it difficult for me to integrate in new social networks any suggestions?girl myspace myspace.com

So what! Just join in the group, you don't have to drink! i firmly believe in being able to enjoy myself without the influence of alcohol
you yourself can order drinks that are not um... beer, or liqour... order something else and just admit you don't drink
have a drink of pop...no one needs to know thats there isnt anything mixed in it. but do you really want to be friends with poeple who wont like you unless you drink?
Stick with what you drink now. What you drink should not matter to anyone. I have been the designated driver many times and enjoyed myself just the same. It is not WHAT you drink, but WHO you drink with.
Well if you don't drink why would you want to socialize with people that do if they expect you to. Further more just because you don't drink doesn't mean that you cannot attend a party where there are people drinking.
Drink non-alcoholic beverages.

If anyone asks why you are not drinking, I find that "I don't like the taste" seems to work best as an excuse. Or offer to be the designated driver.
Find alternative social networks.
I order vodka straight up then go to the bathroom and dump it out and fill the glass with water. No one knows the difference.
There's social networks other than the nightclub or bar scene out there. Go to your local rec center and join a de-ed sports team, or take a class at your civic center like painting or pottery.
I used to drink WAY too much, and now that I don't drink at all, I find myself in that very situation every now and then too, mostly when I visit old friends who used to be drinking buddies.

I am not ashamed of having stopped drinking, and when we are in that type of situation and they ask why I don't have a beer or liquor in my drink I simply tell them that I don't drink anymore. Most of them just say "oh" and leave it at that.

Never be ashamed of being a non-drinker - it makes you different, and it makes you better because YOU are ALWAYS in control, and the booze is never in control.
Okay, really! Who cares whether or not you drink? It's your perrogative. If they can't accept that, then go to another social network that will. Don't let anyone pressure u into being someone u r not!
I've never taken a drink in my life. I find that some people have a hard time accepting that. But those who can't accept it are no longer my friends. It's OK to associate with people who are drinking, as long as you don't get sucked in. Stick to your guns! Be stubborn! If your friends are insistent that you should drink to be part of their group, you must find new friends.
Heres the not straight edge answer. Drink. It's fun just dont drink to much or drive. It takes the edge off bro.
Congratulations...I admire a person who stands out in a crowd.

Join in with the group and drink soft drinks...cola, lemonade, orange etc...I do!

The best bit is that you're the only one who remembers exactly what the others did when they were drunk...

Meeting on online social networks?

Theres this person who i added to my friends and am really interested in just by their description of themself and their interests. Even tho were on eachothers friends list we havent messaged eachother. So my question is, what should i send in my first message to initiate showing interest in them, while making them like me too?

Meeting on online social networks?myspace co uk

You should be as casual as possible. Say hi, tell about something you liked or found interesting in the person's profile. And you may also ask them about something you seem to have in common. Keep in mind that at this point you're only trying to make initial contact and not sound like some sort of stalker. If a person added you to her friend's list chances are he/she will welcome your message.

How to market to Evangelical Christians? Are their any good social networks, magazines, or websites?

http://www.adgridwork.com/

This website is great for web advertising. It's a free targeted advertising (based on you selecting various categories you would like to be included in) and link exchange network. You put other websites text ads on your page and yours appears on others. And it really is 100% free, forever. While it's not something that guarantees traffic it also doesn't cost anything, so why not try it?

Good luck!

How to market to Evangelical Christians? Are their any good social networks, magazines, or websites?view myspace

Here's a bit of an "out of the box" idea...go to the "obvious" websites you know of that evangelicals frequent (Christian dating sites would be a good place to start) and check out what pay-per-click ads are featured on the homepages. Checking out those websites will probably point you in some good directions and give you great ideas to find other websites, social networks, publications, and other media examples that this market is regularly drawn to.

Good luck!

Is there an Internet social network for oldies fans? And if the answer is yes, which is the best?

Since my retirement, I have dedicated my time for my hobby 鈥?popular music from the fifth and sixth decades of the last century. I've learnt a lot, and I want to share my knowledge and exchange ideas with other people. I've tried sites like MySpace, FriendJungle and other, but with no success.

I like some oldies myself. I say this with all due respect, but from what I have seen from my mom and her friends is a lack of computer usage skills.....in some cases they don't even bother to learn how to use the computer. With the youngins, it's second nature since they all grew up with it.

I thought it was a good idea. I usually try not to think too paranoid but I see a lot of people here think that social networking is too close for comfort. I just moved and the people back home have proven not to be friends at all.

So I ask whatever I like! and even if my friends could see what I ask...I have nothing to hide!
That's why I'm ignoring the option. I get on here for privacy. I don't really want buddies.
No.

I don't ask many questions, but I tell my friends the same thing I tell people on here.
No, I dont ask personal questions here. Getting another ID could get you banned, so be careful!

Like someone else said, it depends on your interests. Many people like Facebook and MySpace but there are plenty of smaller niche sites that focus on a particular interest. For example, people who like action sports go to www.riptube.com. You can start your own nice social network by purchasing a script or using a free service like www.thevillage.com.

Best of luck in your search.
