Theres this person who i added to my friends and am really interested in just by their description of themself and their interests. Even tho were on eachothers friends list we havent messaged eachother. So my question is, what should i send in my first message to initiate showing interest in them, while making them like me too?

You should be as casual as possible. Say hi, tell about something you liked or found interesting in the person's profile. And you may also ask them about something you seem to have in common. Keep in mind that at this point you're only trying to make initial contact and not sound like some sort of stalker. If a person added you to her friend's list chances are he/she will welcome your message.
