Russian/East European Restaurant for Russian/East Euro Social Function?

What's a good Russian, Ukrainian or East European restaurant in Vancouver to have a russian/ukrainian/east european social function.

I'm looking for a place that has a bit of younger crowd, 20's, that is not too small and very clean. I'm thinking of having an event that's going to be more of a business/networking or career based, but the people are going to be mostly younger, in their twenties.

Some russian people also come from places like Ukraine, Belorussia, Syberia or other parts of the world, but still identify themselves as distinctively russian. Please suggest any other places, other than a restaurant if you have any ideas.

Take a look at our website and forum for more information on what our club and events are like:

There is also Rasputin Russian Cuisine Restaurant at 457 West Broadway. It's been there for a while, has awesome food, and has a very good reputation:

The Ukranian Village Restaurant on 815 Denman Street might be a little too small for a function. But they have great perogies:

Ne znayu.
There is restaurant I have never eaten at on Edmunds in Burnaby between Canada Way and Kingsway on the left side of the road going towards Kingsway. Sorry, I forget the name, but they serve Eastern/Hungarian food and the food looks great.....it seems they could accommodate quite a large group and perhaps do catering also........interesting websites....I wish I spoke Russian or Ukrainian and got invited to some of these functions...they look like a lot of fun...

ahh - Zdrastvuti!

There is a nice little Hungarian Restaurant (serving excellent goulash) called Budapest on Main St..

perhaps too small for your needs - but down the hill in Strathcona / Chinatown is the Ukranian Cultural Centre Hall (Pender and Hawks) - they just renovated it and have a kitchen and stage there - they rent it out for all sorts of events and hold regular Ukranian Cultural Events there - also a couple of blocks south east of there, on Campbell Ave. is the Russian Peoples Home / hall ... it's a little run down but is next door to Vancouver's first Russian Orthodox Church (mebbe 100 y.o. which is old by Vancouver standards!)

There is also a Russian Hall on West 4th, (near Arbutus) and of course - the Croatian Cultural Centre on Victoria Drive south of Broadway - - - both rent their facilities.

dodna!
